Helen Royale scored a gutsy win over 2040m on a heavy 9 track at Benalla on Monday, grabbing the lead on the line in a thrilling finish.

Although disappointing in her last start on a firm track, Michael thought a win was only a matter of time. “She has been working really well and I thought if I could get her to a wet track then she would be a good chance for a win. She has proven in her past races that she doesn’t like to let down on anything better than a slow 7 so the key was to find the right conditions for her”.

Settling towards the rear of the pack, and ridden with great patience by Daniel Moor, she slowly worked her way into the race and began to make her move with 400m to go.

There might not be much of her but she showed toughness at the top of the straight to force her way to the lead at just the right time to score her second win for the stable.
